Red Garnet Amaranth is a high-protein microgreen with stunning red and magenta tones. We did a test growing red garnet amaranth microgreen (well, it’s micro red in this case). The room temperature is about 70 °F. Let’s see how easy it is.
Day 1: Take an ice cream container with dome (diameter 3 1/4″). Put 1/4″ thick soil (peat moss or coco coir work too). Make sure the media is wet not soggy. sprinkle 1 pinch (1/16 teaspoon) amaranth seeds. Cover it and put in a cabinet – do not expose microgreens to light until they are about 1.5″ tall. They will be easier to harvest and yield more.
Day 4. Morning. Check daily if you like. Or just set a reminder to check in day 4. No need to water since it’s covered.
Day 4. Evening. Keep the cover on until they are ready for light. We removed the cover at day 4. It was under an LED lamp on our computer desk. Once the cover is off, water once or twice everyday. Half a teaspoon water is enough.
Day 5.
Today is day 6. The leaves are opened a little. We will wait 3-4 more days to harvest.
