How to Make Retro 80s Braided Ribbon Barrettes

Remember These? 80s Braided Ribbon Barrettes. Let’s make one.

1. What we need: double bar barrettes, 2 colors of 1/8″ satin or grosgrain ribbon, a yard each.

2. With the barrette open, take 2 ribbons and slide them to the top. Have an even amount of ribbon on either side of the barrette.

3. take the first ribbon and weave both ends through the bars. In image below, right side was woven through the bars first, and then the left side.

4. Take the second color and do the same: weave the right side through the bars, then left.

5. Keep weaving.

6. Until reach the end.

7. Double knot the ribbons to secure the braid.

8. Optional: thread several beads and knot at the ends.
