15mm non-tapered headband is used in this tutorial. The headband can be lined by ribbon or fabric to match the outfit. It creates different looks and super easy.
1. What we need–15mm non-tapered headband, PeelnStick Double Sided Tape. A piece of 1.5″ ribbon (or fabric) about 16″ in length. A piece of 3/8″ velvet ribbon about 15″ (not shown in the picture).
2. Stick 1 stipe of double sided tape to the inside of the headband. And 2 stripes side by side to outside of the headband.
3. Peel off the backing.
4. Attach ribbon from one end as shown.
5. Finish to the other end.
6. Remove the backing of the inside tape.
7. Beginning from the middle, fold the ribbon over.
8. Work toward both ends.
9. Stick another stripe of double sided tape inside (align top and cover the seam). Peel off backing.
10. Again, beginning from the middle, fold the ribbon over.
11. Next, cut and heat seal the ribbon ends, fold over and hot glue the ends to the inside of the headbands.
12. Lined inside with 3/8″ velvet ribbon to a) cover the seam b) serve as a grip to hold the hair better. To line the velvet ribbon inside, cut and heat seal 3/8″ velvet ribbon in 15″, stick 2 stripes of double sided tape to fully cover the back of the velvet ribbon, then line the velvet inside.
I’ve been wearing this project for 2 and half days and am very satisfied with the result. The velvet ribbon holds my hair very well. I even worn it in a tennis game without problem. The double sided tape grabs the ribbon well too. No signs of felling apart any where. (I didn’t try to pull ribbon apart though).
